OLC and Hervey Lavoie have worked on many Wellbridge-owned clubs over the years, and they are, without a doubt, the best overall team to have on board when designing any kind of athletic facility. Their excellence in designing beautiful, functional clubs is unbeatable. Because of their nationwide athletic club experience, they have an intimate knowledge of industry practices and anchoring onto key design points that make the difference between a so-so member experience, and an outstanding one. The flow and functionality of our OLC-designed clubs combined with their excellent interior design has given Wellbridge several “showcase” facilities, all of them with powerful membership numbers.
Their commitment to us as their client and to our agenda has been unwavering, and has resulted in countless satisfied members in many successful clubs around the country. Trying to work with any other firm besides OLC has been an exercise in frustration and a poor working relationship between Wellbridge and the architect. The thing that Hervey and OLC do so much better than other architects is listen. If you’ve ever worked with a typical architect, you often get the feeling that they don’t really hear you. This is definitely not true with OLC. After meeting Hervey, or with anyone at OLC, you know assuredly that your club’s needs and goals will be translated into the design. That trust is why Wellbridge has utilized OLC again and again to design its clubs.
I would recommend OLC, without a moment’s hesitation, for any athletic club design work, new and retrofitted, interior and exterior, small or large. Please feel free to contact me if you need any further clarification of OLC’s credentials.

I am pleased to offer an unconditional endorsement of the architectural firm, Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative. As vice president of professional services at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, I have known and worked with Mr. Hervey Lavoie and his company since we engaged them to design our $20 million wellness center and medical building in 2002. Since then we have used them for a parking structure and medical office expansion completed in 2006, our $84 million Heart Hospital and Cancer Institute and currently for the $130 million Building on Excellence Hospital expansion and remodel. They always do an excellent job. We like working with the OLC team because they respect our operational experience, listen well and can be relied upon to deliver on their promises. As a healthcare organization, Saint Francis holds a high standard of excellence in the delivery of medical services. We feel confident in saying, without hesitation, that OLC shares our commitment to excellence and would be a great addition to any developmental team.
-Marilyn Curtis, Vice President of Patient Services
The selection of OLC was the best decision we made. They gave us their well thought-out opinions on a variety of planning issues, instead of simply telling us what we wanted to hear. OLC encouraged, and finally convinced us, to build the right sized facility to fully accommodate our outpatient rehab services and fitness club membership. It ended up being 75,300 square feet facility, about 12,000sq.ft larger than originally planned. Now the facility is open and serving over 8,000 members. Good Shepherd Health System is thrilled to have listened to OLC’s advice! Throughout the programming and design process, we felt that OLC consistently came to the table with fresh and innovative ideas. Never once did we feel like we were getting a modified version of another facility. The leadership and quality of work from OLC is unsurpassed and the result is an outstanding wellness facility that combines health education, rehabilitation and fitness. I recommend them without hesitation as great designers who really care about their clients.
-Syed Ali, Former Director of Plant Operations and Construction
Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative (OLC) has been our architect and advocate during more than three years of planning and design for the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex. OLC and their team worked closely with the City, all of the stakeholders and most of all, the community, to determine what programming, activities and design elements would best suit the neighborhood. The community workshops and staff involvement generated a lot of excitement and creative ideas for the users of the original facility. That energy has shaped the design for the new center, which the community is proud to call their own.
We appreciate the staff of OLC for their management skills that kept the pace going, delivered a unique design and maintained the project budget. Their creative ideas and forward-thinking solutions helped meet all the challenges we faced in order to make this project a successful re-investment back into the Community.
