The design, shape and positioning of the Glenwood Springs Community Center have been carefully placed between the highway and the steeper slopes of the nearby mountain to take advantage of contours for multiple building entries and exits while reducing the site amenity development costs. The design of the facility is greatly influenced by the architecture of the region. Building elements and materials have been selected to express an architectural language that captures the essence of mountain living and embodies the community’s values. The original 53,000 sf recreation center was expanded in 2003 to add an indoor competitive and leisure pool, as well as a walk/jog track and fitness balcony over the gym.
