22 Aug Well and Good Newsletter 2022- Quarter 3
LETTER FROM THE CEO
Dear Friends,
On behalf of everyone here at OLC, we hope that you and your circle of family and friends continue to be safe, healthy and well. We’re doing great here at OLC and are gearing up for our Consultant/Client Appreciation event on August 25 at our offices at 400 Santa Fe. We hope to see you there!
OLC is growing! We can’t wait for you to meet our new team members. We recently hired three new professionals. Josibel Pena is our new Intern Architect; Tania Parada has joined us as our new Senior Interior Designer; and Ashley Sayre is OLC’s new Administrative Marketing Assistant. Please reach out and give them a warm welcome. I know they’d love to hear from you.
I’m very excited to announce that the OLC team was selected as the architecture and interior design firm to lead the George J. Meyers Swimming Center project. The City of Arvada, Apex Park and Recreation District, and Jeffco Schools have decided to replace the center with a new 50-meter natatorium. The design process is underway and Brian Beckler and I are leading the charge.
In addition, OLC was awarded an Aquatics Facility project with the City of Wellington, Florida; a Park Renovation project including a natural spray park for the Town of Berthoud, Colorado; a Physical Therapy Facility remodel in NY; multiple projects for the Town of Silverthorne, Colorado, and an on-call contract for Brevard County, Florida.
By the way, have we mentioned that we’re part of a larger team that will be developing the largest indoor water park in North Dakota? More to come!
Keep an eye out for OLC at the upcoming Colorado Parks and Recreation Conference; the Wyoming Parks and Recreation Conference; the Florida Parks and Recreation Conference; the Parks & Recreation Summit; and we’re very excited to announce that we’ll be showcasing our Lake Nona Performance Club at the Medical Fitness Association Conference in Orlando in November. Watch our social media channels for more information about these exciting events.
To all of our friends and colleagues, we thank you for your trust and look forward to collaborating with you in the near future.
Be Well,
AUGUST IS WELLNESS MONTH
Happy Wellness Month! OLC honors and appreciates all the ways to Be Well, Get Well, Stay Well, and Live Well year-round. While we are healthy, we strive to Be Well. The Athletic Clubs, Medical Fitness Centers and Recreation Centers that we design inspire exercise, encourage social connections, and bolster self-esteem. Here are some of our favorite ways to celebrate wellness! 😊
INDUSTRY TRENDS
The Margaret Carpenter Recreation Center renovation was a collaborative effort dating back to 2019 when we 1st met the owner at the NRPA Conference – their desire was to stand out amongst their competition in the area & provide a unique experience through innovation to their members. We were able to deliver a course with vibrant color, 3 new obstacles & claiming the title of “1st NINJACROSS™ in Colorado”. The Spinning Wheels & Tilting Frames on the advanced lane challenges even the most athletic of competitors, keeping members coming back time & time again to beat their best time.
GO CHECK IT OUT!

What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
When I am not at the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young children (5 and 2). Our favorite things to do are hiking and swimming as much as possible and in the winter, there is always sledding! When I feel in the ‘mood’ I enjoy painting or drawing. My favorite thing above all else is to be silly and make people laugh.
I once met…
This guy in Highschool I really liked. Reconnected 10 years later and were married in 5 months! I could never meet someone famous or ‘known’ because I would have a whirlwind of anxiety and never get the guts to approach such a human.
If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
The power to provide food and clean drinking water for the entire world.
What do you do to Be Well?
I love walking, I walk for miles and miles, it is my outdoor therapy. I also love swimming and hiking. I eat healthily and try and meal prep as often as possible. I also love cooking and taking lots of ‘me’ time whenever possible, to do the things that bring me joy.
RECENT PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Town of Berthoud Splash Pad
In Fall of 2021, the Town of Berthoud, “Garden Spot of Colorado”, selected OLC as their collaborative partner to bring the Town’s 2018 Town Park master plan to life. Key to the master plan is creating dynamic civic destinations by activating two existing parks, In one of the parks, Berthoud’s 45-year-old pool will be replaced with an interactive aquatic component. A picnic pavilion, destination playground, civic lawns, bandstands, and art features will be strategically located throughout the two closely located parks. The OLC team is providing schematic design through construction administration for this two-phased project.
