04 Oct Well and Good Newsletter 2023 – Quarter 3
LETTER FROM THE CEO
Dear Friends,
With the arrival of Fall, OLC has found its way back to downtown Denver! We’re thrilled to share some snapshots of our new office digs in this newsletter, and if you happen to be in the vicinity, please do drop by for a visit! Moreover, our Denver and Orlando offices recently had some fun office retreats. Denver ventured into the world of Axe Throwing, while Orlando explored the wondrous Orlando Museum of Illusions!
Jodi Ross and I have just returned from the 2023 CPRA Annual Conference in Snowmass. Being part of this event was a true thrill, and we’re deeply honored to have received the prestigious Columbine Award for Design for a Renovated Facility at the Margaret Carpenter Recreation Center in Thornton, CO. I am also excited to announce my participation in the upcoming 2023 WRPA Conference in Pinedale, Wyoming, from October 16th to 18th.
In the realm of projects, OLC Orlando has proudly secured the Palm Beach County Four Points Emergency Operations Center in Palm Beach County, Florida. Meanwhile, OLC Denver has been entrusted with the Town of Eagle Pool Replacement Facility project. Our Florida team is buzzing with excitement about this new endeavor! Additionally, we’re delighted to share that OLC has been entrusted with new feasibility studies for the R.C. Icabone Swimming Pool in Canon City and the Anna Gimmestad Feasibility Study for the City of Greeley. We eagerly look forward to aiding these municipalities in shaping their future building plans!
As the seasons change, we hope you’re savoring the magic of Fall. Please take good care, stay safe, and accept our warmest wishes.
Be Well,
Robert McDonald, CEO, Senior Principal

OLC HIGHLIGHT
John Martinez & Krissada Harnsongkram
OLC is very excited to introduce our two newest team members. Please give a warm welcome to…
Architect
John has architectural experience in a wide variety of project types including recreational, educational, commercial and residential. He performs duties throughout the project from conceptual design through construction documentation. John is a certified LEED Accredited Professional.
A little more about John –
I spend most of the day in the office developing drawings, meeting with clients, and consulting with engineers. Meeting with clients, developing a program, and building mass that meets their needs functionally and visually is the most rewarding part of Architecture.
I like the project types; I find them interesting and rewarding to work on.
Play golf, hike, fish, and travel.
I once met Chauncy Billups at a golf tournament, he was very approachable and classy. We talked for about 10 minutes about Colorado basketball history.
Time travel, definitely.
I try to eat well, play golf, and workout regularly.
Architectural Intern
I assist with various tasks in the conceptual design process. This includes creating 3D models from schematic floor plans, documenting drawings, adding keynotes, and editing and organizing presentation sheets.
The best thing about OLC is the people. Everyone here is incredibly friendly, passionate, creative, welcoming, and laid-back.
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring different areas of the city, especially since I’ve recently moved here. Whether it’s driving to new places or taking leisurely walks in different neighborhoods, I find it quite calm and exciting.
I once met Anne Hathaway during summer 2022, when I walked past the hotel where she was staying in Paris. She was super nice; she took photos with every single person that night.
If I could choose one superpower, it would be the ability to travel through time. I would love to revisit the past to correct mistakes or explore the future to prepare for what lies ahead.
Physically, I prioritize staying active and healthy. I try to get daily exercise everyday. I also walk to the office everyday as well. Mentally, I make an effort to get enough sleep, maintain an optimistic outlook, and stay motivated. Smiling also plays a part in keeping me mentally positive.
FEATURED PROJECTS
PALM BEACH GARDENS PAR-3 GOLF CLUBHOUSE
Palm Beach Gardens, FL
OLC provided Architecture and Interior Design services for a new Golf Club House for the City of Palm Beach Gardens. OLC recently served as the Architect of Record for the 11,000 sf Palm Beach Gardens Tennis Center. The City staff and citizens were delighted with the final building design and the highly responsive services provided by OLC throughout the project’s design and construction. OLC was subsequently selected for a 5-year Continued Service Contract, which led to the award of this project, which adapted the design for the Palm Beach Gardens Tennis Center to serve as the Par-3 Golf Club House, involving an approximately 50% change in the original design.
DENVER OFFICE MOVE
Our Denver office has moved downtown!
Come drop by our new office space at:
2000 Lawrence Street
Denver, CO 80205
“We’re excited to be in downtown Denver once more, and part of the diverse social fabric of LoDo. Stepping into our office feels like coming home. OLC has a history of hanging our shingles inside historic buildings of brick, wood, and steel. In this second-story space–with reminders of past users, construction quirks, and lots of daylight through the operable windows–it feels like just the right place to continue to foster our creativity and productivity.”
